Music Ministry
The music ministry program offers several opportunities for parishioners to share their musical gifts with the parish community. Many people of all skill levels are welcome and encouraged to participate! Please call Lisa Driscoll at the parish office or email Music@holyfamilycaledonia.org to ask questions or to volunteer.
Adult Choir
Fun group of volunteers that commit to singing at one weekend Mass per week. Must regularly attend Tuesday night rehearsals and arrive promptly one hour before Mass. High school students are welcome!
K-1(2) Choir
K-1(2): This choir meets for 1/2 hour between the Masses on designated Sundays. The children learn a little bit about why we do what we do, a little bit about their voices, a little bit about singing in church, and hopefully a little bit about the joy of singing and giving praise with their voices. Second graders have the option to sing in this choir, or in the Elementary Choir. If your child is not yet ready to rehearse for a full hour, or struggles with their reading skills, they may enjoy singing in this choir. Schedules will be on the ministry cart in August! Please contact Aline Snoeyink: 616-249-3935, or aksnoeyink@gmail.com for more information.
Elementary Choir
A place to sing for children in grades 2-5. This choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings, beginning in October, 5:30-6:30, right before Catholic Faith Formation. The Elementary Choir sings 6 timess per year. This includes Christmas, Easter and First Eucharist Celebration! Through participation in singing the songs of our faith, in a variety of styles, they experience a sense of belonging and accomplishment, they begin to learn their role in their faith community, and come to realize their gift of music is an important venue for them to share the love of Christ. Schedules will be on the ministry cart in August! Please contact Aline Snoeyink: 616-249-3935, or aksnoeyink@gmail.com for more information.
Youth Choir
This group is for singers in grades 6-10, and rehearses on Sundays, from 4:45 until 5:45 in the church. This choir learn harmonies, and sings music of all styles, with a little bit heavier influence from the contemporary hymn writers. Singing with others gives a sense of belonging, accomplishment and community. Young men and women of this age group are not the church of the future, they are the church today. Schedules will be on the ministry cart in August! Please contact Aline Snoeyink: 616-249-3935, or aksnoeyink@gmail.com for more information.
